Dr. Adams is among the highest level of plastic surgeons whose practice includes a surgery center. The operating room is part of his office suite, which is on the campus of St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. His proximity to the hospital provides for every medical contingency, from lab work to cardiologist consults.
But Dr. Adams is adamant that having his own surgery facility on the premises is the most effective approach. Aside from a larger risk of infection in a hospital setting, a self-contained operating room allows Dr. Adams and his staff complete control over the environment, from ambience to sterility standards to patient privacy and comfort. With many of the same staff members for 17 years, Dr. Adams is assured that “everything is polished and rehearsed.”
I just had back problems and was just in another facility and I can tell you point blank that Dr. Adams’ facility is pristine. I was less fearful. All of the people were so pleasant and there was this real sense of camaraderie. At the other place, it was extremely cold. No one was smiling or talking to me. — Cathy, 56
Dr. Adams has chosen and molded his long-standing staff into an efficient team, but one that treats patients like friends and family. “Our patients comfort is extremely important to our practice,” he says.
Dr. Adams’ facility is very modern and comfortable. The convenience was a huge win, and I was very comfortable in the surgery room. — Steve, 51
