The decision to undergo breast augmentation is an important one that most women do not take lightly. Yet even when weighing all of the risks and benefits carefully, some women find that they want to have their implants removed after some time has passed. There are a few different reasons that you might want to have your implants removed. Here is what you need to know about implant removal and why a breast lift is important.

Reasons for Implant Removal

There are many different reasons that a woman might decide on implant removal. The most common reason to remove implants is age of the implants. Doctors are warning women that implants should not last a lifetime and should be removed or replaced after 10 to 20 years, depending on the type of implant.

Another reason that some women decide on implant removal is that they are not satisfied with the results of their breast augmentation. Some women may also have difficulties with their implants, such as ruptured or leaking implants. Implants can also wrinkle and pucker in some circumstances.

Why a Breast Lift?

When you get your implants removed, it is important to get a breast lift as part of the procedure. If you are replacing your implants, a breast lift may not be needed. But if the implants are being removed completely, a breast lift is important. The breast lift will remove the excess skin and tissue so that your breasts remain perky and well-shaped after the implants are removed. The breast lift will also move the nipple back to a centered position appropriate for the new size and shape of your breasts.

“I had my first surgery in 2008 with Dr. Adams amazing results! No regrets returning when I wanted to change in 2019. I also had a lower blepharoplasty last year and it was and is absolute perfection ! I healed quickly with no signs of having the procedure done shortly after everyone was amazed at the results:)”
